Abergavenny Leisure Centre

Customer Notice

We wanted to provide you with an update regarding the temporary closure of the swimming pool at Abergavenny Leisure Centre.

Work on the ceiling has now begun to repair the damage caused by the unforeseen impact of Storm Claudia and to ensure the swimming pool is Safe for future use. However, the scale of the project is far greater than originally anticipated. The scaffolding required is highly complex and has been carefully designed to protect the pool and surrounding areas from
any further damage. Our scaffolding team has worked tirelessly, including weekends, to get this in place as quickly as possible.

While we are working hard to complete the work safely, the complexity means that swimming lessons will not resume until Monday 5th January.

We understand this is disappointing, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. We are hopeful that the pool may reopen for public swimming ahead of Christmas, subject to progress, and we will provide further updates as we get closer to confirming this.

As part of your swimming lesson membership, please remember you can
enjoy free public swimming at all other MonLife sites while the Abergavenny pool remains closed.

To reflect the recent disruption, please be advised that we won’t be collecting any payments in December for Swimming Lessons and Aqua memberships. This means you won’t be charged during this time.

We sincerely apologise for the delay and any inconvenience caused. The scale and technical nature of the work have required more time and resources than expected.

Abergavenny Leisure Centre features a 25m swimming pool, fitness gym, multi-purpose gymnasium, a sports hall, squash courts, multi-use areas and an Astroturf pitch.

Visitors to Abergavenny Leisure Centre can enjoy numerous individual activities or may choose to book one of our programmed classes. All fitness classes can be booked up to 7 days in advance.
