Children’s Mental Health Week 2025
This February, we proudly supported Children’s Mental Health Week by showcasing the impact of our Youth Service and Sports Development teams. Throughout the week, we highlighted the amazing work they have done this year to promote mental well-being among young people in our community.
We’ve included the content we shared on our social media channels below for you to enjoy!

Towards the end of last year, we held two Bronze Young Ambassador events across Monmouthshire, which creates advocates for Monmouthshire in collaboration with the Youth Sport Trust.
Our event timetable, guided by the Youth Sport Trust Young Ambassador framework, featured inspiring workshops on:
• Inspire
• Influence
• Lead
• Mentor
Join us in celebrating the power of self-awareness and growth during Children’s Mental Health Week. By knowing ourselves better, we can grow stronger and more resilient.
We’re proud to share that 1067 young people have accessed MonLife Youth Service’s open-access provision, participating in 357 sessions over 1038 hours! From Alton Towers to Camping, our trips have been a hit.
“You are such a valuable part of these young people’s lives.”
We aim to provide a safe space for young people to be themselves
MonLife Youth Service’s Shift project and State of Mind group have made a real difference! 100% of participants reported improved wellbeing.
71 young people have engaged and attended multiple sessions with the Shift project.
We currently have 8 young people engaged in a State of Mind group at our site.
“My daughter looked forward to her sessions and felt at ease and comfortable almost straight away, something that can normally take months. Thank you”
Let’s continue to support our youth’s mental health together. Know yourself, grow yourself!
As part of our Street Games project, we held a bespoke girls’ rugby workshop for Year 7-10 students at Caldicot School, supported by WRU referee Amber Stamp Dunstan. Amber shared her experiences and discussed entry routes into rugby, followed by an ‘introduction to rugby’ session focusing on key skills.
Thanks to the support from Caldicot School’s P.E. Department, they’re now looking to establish a girls’ rugby team!
• 4 workshops delivered
• 160 attendances
One staff member shared: “The sports leadership course has had a positive impact on our young people in the SRB unit, fostering both personal growth and confidence.”
Let’s celebrate the power of physical activity in enhancing wellbeing and creating an engaging environment for young people to thrive.
MonLife Youth Service’s annual youth conference brought together 38 young people, providing them with a platform to share their thoughts and discuss the issues that matter most to them.
From the Youth Conference, participants chose their top 3 priorities and made 11 recommendations. These have been shared with services working with or for young people across Monmouthshire.
Together, we can create a supportive environment for all. Know yourself, grow yourself!
Playing is central to children’s mental, emotional, social and physical health and wellbeing. Through play, children develop resilience and flexibility, which contributes to emotional and physical wellbeing.
