Romeo and Juliet at Caldicot Castle
Set against the dramatic backdrop of our castle, Romeo and Juliet comes alive in a striking new production from The Duke’s Theatre Company, directed by Joseph Pitcher. This fresh interpretation of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy blends passion, danger and beauty, making full use of the castle’s historic atmosphere to draw audiences into Verona’s divided world.
Pitcher brings a distinguished body of work to the production, including the UK Theatre Award–winning Gypsy, My Fair Lady at The Mill at Sonning, and Macbeth at Salomons Theatre, Tunbridge Wells. Following his recent collaboration with the company, Romeo and Juliet continues his bold and emotionally driven approach to classic texts.
The production is enhanced by an original score from composer Rob Millett, whose work spans leading organisations such as Rambert Dance Company, The Royal Opera House, The National Theatre and Shakespeare’s Globe, adding a powerful contemporary edge to the timeless story.
